Closed gyms and empty stadiums haven’t stopped athletes from pushing forward and using their platforms to help create change. The NBA is about to begin in their bubble tonight. And Major League Baseball is marching through 19 Miami Marlins contracting COVID-19. Athletes will not be stopped. Nike celebrates this attitude in the third film in its series, ‘You Can’t Stop Us.’ And it’ s our Reel Ad of the Week.
The new film features a collective of everyday and elite athletes, including Megan Rapinoe, LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Eliud Kipchoge, Caster Semenya, Cristiano Ronaldo, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Serena Williams, Colin Kaepernick and Kylian Mbappé.
Narrated by soccer star Megan Rapinoe, the inspiring TVC from longtime AOR Wieden+Kennedy, it celebrates sport as a source of inspiration. Its action shares a dynamic split screen series detailing 36 pairings of athletes and relating the kinetic movement of one sport to another.
“Players may be back on the pitch, but we are not going back to an old normal. We need to continue to reimagine this world and make it better,” says Rapinoe. “We have all these people in the streets, using their voices, and those voices are being heard. I ask people to be energized by this moment and not let up. I believe it’s everybody’s responsibility to advocate for change.” Watch the 1:30 piece from Pulse Films’ Oscar Hudson below;

Developed through research of more than 4,000 pieces of footage, the resulting montage powerfully underscores commonalities shared by athletes around the world.

We always say make Reel 360 smile, laugh or cry to become Reel Ad of the Week. ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ does two of those three very, very well.
