Squeak E. Clean scores three Super Bowl LV spots

Global creative audio network Squeak E. Clean Studios once again heralds the Super Bowl with three of the most talked-about game day ads.

The company lent dynamic musical stylings and audio prowess to Squarespace’s “5 to 9,” debuting a remix of the Dolly Partons’ original “9 to 5” by the country music singer herself, State Farm’s “Stand Ins,” featuring star stand-ins including Paul Rudd and ‘Drake’ from State Farm through The Marketing Arm and a spot from first-time Super Bowl advertiser Dexcom, starring Nick Jonas, through Marcus Thomas.

In “5 to 9,” inhabitants of a soul-crushing office space seek better careers in their off hours with Squarespace, spurred by Dolly Parton’s anthem of the off-the-clock hustle.

The spot, directed by Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle, features a track from Creative Director/Composer Justin Hori.

In “Stand Ins,” there may only be one ‘Jake from State Farm,’ but even the leading man gets a stand-in with hilarious co-actors and famous cameos. Demoting actor Paul Rudd and rapper Drake to the understudy roles, the humorous spot wonders what a life with Drake from State Farm might look like for good neighbors everywhere–and how it could change the classic jingle.

The comedic spot features an arrangement by Creative Director Rob Barbato and sound design by Drew Fischer. BuzzFeed named the spot as “The Best Super Bowl 2021 Commercial You May Have Missed.”

Nick Jonas brings easy glucose monitoring to the mainstream with the first-ever Super Bowl spot for the Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System. Jonas, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 13, is transformed into an old man with a snap, highlighting how diabetes technology has evolved far beyond pricking fingers.

Squeak E. Clean handled music and sound design, with an original composition from Rob Barbato and Justin Hori.

No stranger to the Super Bowl audio landscape, Squeak E. Clean Studios led sound design and final mix for a music-heavy Pepsi ad featuring Missy Elliott and H.E.R. during game day 2020.

They also provided the song titled Everybody’s Waiting  to the Jonah Hill and Martin Scorsese-starring Coca-Cola spot. Past iconic projects include ads for Tide, SoFi, Yahoo, and many more.
