Pepsi Zero teases Super Bowl with Missy Elliott & H.E.R.

Pepsi confirmed Hip Hop legend Missy Elliott and Grammy-nominated R&B singer H.E.R. will co-star in its new Pepsi Zero Sugar commercial airing during Super Bowl LIV. Missy and H.E.R. wrote and collaborated for the first time ever, on a new, reimagined version of the iconic Rolling Stones rock song, Paint it Black.

Their collab with Pepsi, and agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners, provides a bold, fresh new take on the classic hit and will come to life on screen in a music video style creative that heroes the new matte black Pepsi Zero Sugar can.

The new track was co-produced by Elliott and long-time collaborator Timbaland, and features guitar and vocals by H.E.R. and a verse from Elliott. Two teaser clips feature each of them:

“Working on the Pepsi Zero Sugar campaign with H.E.R. has been amazing, she’s an incredibly dynamic talent. Seeing her energy in the studio and on set was refreshing and I am excited to have a fellow badass woman by my side throughout this collaboration,” said Elliott.

“When I learned about the opportunity to reimagine the iconic hit Paint it Black, I was so excited because I love the song and the legendary Rolling Stones. Add the collaboration with icons Missy Elliott and Timbaland, that took it to another level…this whole experience with Pepsi has been unreal,” commented H.E.R.

Elliott is no stranger to the Super Bowl as she performed during the 2015 halftime show when pop songstress Katy Perry brought her out as a guest to perform some of her biggest hits, including Lose Control, Get Ur Freak On, and Work It.

She also appeared in the 2018 Super Bowl Doritos mash-up featuring Morgan Freeman and Peter Dinklage.
