You can’t stop this new Nike spot with over 80m views

Welcome back to the real world after probably one of the more weirder Memorial Day weekends we’ve experienced in a long time. If we had published this story on Saturday, chances are it would have started out with, “Inspiring new Nike spot narrated by LeBron James has 53 million views.” However, since we are talking about the motivating new effort from agency Wieden+Kennedy, Portland and edited by our friends at Spot Welders on a Tuesday, it now has over 80 million well-deserved YouTube views, obviously making it our Reel Ad of the Week.

The spot deserves every view as, just like an athlete pushing themself, the new creative pushes optimism, courage, hope and resilience in this very difficult time where we have now seen a pandemic that affects everyone become politicized.

Narrated by LeBron James, the next chapter in Nike’s “You Can’t Stop Us “campaign is a new film titled ‘Never Too Far Down’.

In the :90-second spot directed by Park Pictures’ Lance Accord, James eloquently says: “Right now, we’re fighting for something much bigger than a win or a championship. But if we’ve learned anything from sports, It’s that no matter how far down we may be. We are never too far down to come back.”

Featuring a roster of elite Nike athletes including Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and Cristiano Ronaldo, the beautiful film highlights why we love sports comeback stories and how we see ourselves in them. More than ever, we need these inspiring tales to remind us of our potential. Watch the Nike spot below:

“The whole world, we’re fighting for something bigger than a championship right now,” commented James to LBB Online. “People are struggling and this continues to be an incredibly difficult time. For me, thinking forward to a time when we’ll be able to play again, it keeps me going. Even if basketball looks different for a while, I’m excited about the possibility of getting back in the game because I know how inspiring and powerful sports can be. I think the lessons we learn from sport can inspire us all.”

‘Never Too Far Down’ debuted on Nike’s social channels and on television and live streaming of Tiger Wood’s ‘The Match. Champions for Charity,’ It also aired during the Dortmund vs Bayern Bundesliga match, as well as during other programming.

If we could put handclap emojis here, we would. It’s a wonderful piece of work that deserves every single view for Nike.
