Joe Sciarotta promoted to Ogilvy Co-U.S. Creative Officer

Ogilvy and Mather announced that the agency promoted veteran Chicago creative leader, Joe Sciarotta to U.S. Chief Creative Officer along with Alfonson Marian, who will also share the title. Hero Solutions’ Ira Amyx and Jay Neander knew just what to do when advertising agency FCB Chicago asked them to fuse a stuffed animal with a firearm.

“We made a metallic-silver looking teddy bear with a pistol coming out of his face,” says Neander. “The bear was 3d printed and then re-coated and finished.”

“The gun was a .357,” adds Amyx. “We cast a real one and made a fake one.”

Escape Pod hires Celia Jones as new brand director

A tribute to the legend, Ruth L Ratny

Ruth Louise Ratny, founder and editor of ReelChicago and Screen Magazine, passed away quietly in her sleep on the evening of February 21.

The only daughter of German immigrants who settled in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, Ruth lived through a Great Depression, a World War, the Beat Generation, Viet Nam, hippies, disco, the first great wave of Feminism, VHS, Betamax, yuppies, two Middle Eastern Wars, the next great wave of Feminism and sixteen US Presidents.
