Paramount Pictures has released the first official trailer for John Krasinski’s highly anticipated horror sequel A Quiet Place Part II. The original 2018 horror flick, directed and co-written by Krasinski, takes place after an alien invasion wipes out most of Earth’s population. Attracted to sound, Blunt’s family survives the attack using elaborate safety precautions… well, most of them.
The new trailer opens as a prequel of sorts, taking us back to the beginning of the alien invasion, as Evelyn Abbott (Emily Blunt), her children and the rest of the world are terrified by the arrival of the lethal, hyper-hearing sensitive aliens, who promptly begin causing all kinds of disaster.
Then, we follow the Abbotts (sans Krasinski who met his demise in the original) as they meet a mysterious survivor played by Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins; Inception). We then see a barrage of intense shots as everyone fights to survive the deadly threat posed by alien and human alike. Watch below:

The trailer does have a Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds kind of tone. There is also a new poster:
After a fairly dismal 2019 at the domestic box office ($563.7m), Paramount will be counting on the sequel to boost its revenue. High profile films such as Gemini Man and Rocketman, which is on Reel 360’s top ten list, failed to capture audiences.
The official plot summary from Paramount Pictures is as follows: “Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”
