Gifted Youth signs comedy director Carlyn Hudson

Carlyn Hudson

Gifted Youth has signed comedy director Carlyn Hudson for U.S. commercial representation, adding the filmmaker behind campaigns for Tinder, JIF, e.l.f., Nike, Google, Amazon, and Jack in the Box to its growing roster.

Hudson has built a reputation for blending cinematic storytelling with sharply uncomfortable comedy, often finding absurdity in everyday situations while grounding the work in emotional realism. Her branded work includes an unapologetic campaign for Annovera starring Whitney Cummings that earned a Cannes Lion.

Outside advertising, Hudson has also made a strong mark in indie filmmaking. Three of her short films premiered at SXSW, including the horror-comedy Waffle, which earned a Grand Jury Award nomination and went on to screen at more than 50 additional festivals. She is also a member of the WGA and has developed feature projects for Netflix and Hulu.

Originally from Texas, Hudson began her creative career in dance and theater before attending NYU’s Stella Adler School of Acting and later transferring to the University of Texas at Austin to study film. After graduation, she worked within Austin’s indie film scene alongside filmmakers Richard Linklater and Andrew Bujalski before relocating to Los Angeles, where she directed sketches and branded content for Funny or Die and CollegeHumor.

“I’m very excited to be in the company of my fellow Gifted Youth directors, and to work with Josh and the rest of the production team,” said Hudson. “Nothing makes me happier than bringing great ideas to life on screen and making people laugh. I can’t wait to get started.”

“Carlyn’s work is both hilarious and human,” added Josh Morse, Executive Producer at Gifted Youth. “She’s able to establish realness and relatability, instantly drawing you in. We’re immensely happy to welcome her to our roster.”

Hudson is also represented by Common Good in Canada, Caviar in Europe, and Artists First for film and television.

Congratulations to Carlyn Hudson and the entire Gifted Youth team on the new partnership.
