Tragedy struck the nation’s capitol this Easter weekend as the U.S. Capitol was the scene of another violent incident less than two hours ago after a suspect rammed a police barricade at the north entrance and emerged from the with knife, fatally stabbing one officer.

CRITICAL INCIDENT: USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.”

The account later corrected the location of the incident to Constitution Avenue.

According to The Wrap, after the crash, a suspect, who has not been identified yet, exited from the car with a knife and was shot by officers. Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman said the suspect died shortly thereafter.

Fox News’ Chad Pergram confirmed online that they were locked down: “Capitol locked down. Car crashed into barrier on Senate side off of Constitution Avenue. This is where they shrunk the perimeter a few weeks ago.”

In response to the attack and possibly more, Capitol police have closed off streets around the structure.

“(Due to the external security threat at the North Barricade of the U.S. Capitol, the following road closures are in effect Constitution Avenue between Second Street NE and First Street NW. -First Street between Constitution Avenue NE and Independence Avenue SE.,” USCP said in a tweet Friday.

According to CNN, the suspect was not on the radar of the US Capitol Police before the attack, but the attack does not appear to be terrorism-related, police said in an afternoon briefing.

The attack comes on the heels of the massive insurrection which occurred on the Capitol steps on January 6. Supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the building to stop the certification of then-President-Elect Joe Biden.

UPDATED: SUSPECT ID’D

The New York Post is reporting that the suspect has been identified as Noah Green, 25, who may have been living in Virginia, described himself as a “Follower of Farrakhan” on his Facebook page, in reference to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

Green appeared to have fallen on hard times from his Facebook page reviewed by The Post before his account was taken down.

“I was on the right track and everything I had planned was coming into existence. It required long hours, lots of studying, and exercise to keep me balanced while experiencing an array of concerning symptoms along the path (I believe to be side effects of drugs I was intaking unknowingly),” he wrote on March 17, signing the message Brother Noah X.
