WB releases new footage of ‘The Suicide Squad’

(The Suicide Squad is scheduled to open on August 6, 2021)

So far DC FanDome is living up to the hype. It started off with an exciting new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. Then, there was the reveal from WB Games Montreal for the new Gotham Knights video game. Which brings us to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. And it looks dope AF.

After an engaging and lively panel featuring all of the films stars – Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Pete Davidson, Michael Rooker, Joel Kinnaman, and others, director Gunn played footage which revealed the entire cast and who they are playing.

Well, today is proving to be even better than Comic-Con! After that awesome cast video, Warner Bros. has now released a sneak peek at The Suicide Squad. It’s not exactly a trailer, but there are a few seconds of footage from the DC Comics sequel which give us a better idea of what to expect.

Essentially, it’s a behind the scenes featurette, but as well as plenty of insightful comments from writer/director James Gunn and the cast, we get to see plenty of Task Force X’s members in action.

Below is a cast roster. Notice Idris Elba is actually playing Bloodsport and not Bronze Tiger like we all thought. Check out the footage below:

– Amanda Waller – Viola Davis
– Colonel Rick Flag – Joel Kinnaman
– Savant – Michael Rooker
– Javelin – Flula Borg
– Harley Quinn – Margot Robbie
– Polka Dot Man – David Dastmalchian
– Ratcatcher 2 – Daniela Melchoir
– Bloodsport – Idris Elba
– King Shark – Unknown
– Mongal – Mayling Ng
– The Thinker – Peter Capaldi
– Sol Soria – Alice Braga
– Blackguard – Pete Davidson
– TDK – Nathan Fillion
– Weasel – Sean Gunn
– Captain Boomerang – Jai Courtney
– The Peacemaker – John Cena

No word yet on who is voicing King Shark.

After fielding some fan questions, Warner Bros. then released a sneak peek of the film. It’s not a trailer, but more of a behind-the-scenes featurette that combines cast interviews with some never-before-seen footage of Task Force X.

There’s also concept art depicting each character, and details on what role certain villains will play in proceedings (it sounds like John Cena’s Peacemaker will be a lot of fun to spend time with). Cena describes him as an “asshole version of Captain America.” Watch below:

Finally, there is a badass poster!
