The long awaited DC FanDome is now underway and it kicked off in a “Wonderful” way. The first panel featured a stunning new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984. Most notable, it shows Gal Gadot’s co-star Kristen Wiig in fighting form as supervillain, Cheetah.
Besides Gadot and Wiig, the panel featured Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) and director Patty Jenkins. After fielding questions from fans including Venus Williams, the original Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, made a surprise appearance.
“After my daughter saw you as Wonder Woman, she turned to me and said, ‘Mom, I finally understand,” the complementary Carter told Gal Gadot. She also asked for a hug from Wiig.
Then came the trailer. It features new action and yes, Wiig as Cheetah. Since she moves like a cheetah, it is a little difficult to get a really good look at her. Watch below:
Full details about the film’s story are still under wraps. There are rumors about the character being involved with a conflict with the Soviet Union. Cheetah will most likely be teaming up with Pascal’s Maxwell Lord.
Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on October 2nd, 2020.
