Tool, known for its innovative approach to blending traditional production with AI technology, has announced the addition of Nem Perez and KingWillonius to its expanding roster of Experience/AI Directors. This move aligns with Tool’s growing influence in AI-powered branded entertainment and advertising.

These new appointments follow Tool’s recent AI consultancy launch, Toolkit, and its AI-powered projects such as the Under Armour commercial “Forever is Made Now,” Quinn Halleck’s experimental film Cultural Connections, and the Starburst commercial project using AI for modular content creation.

Industry Recognition and Vision

Tool has quickly established itself as a leading voice in the advertising industry’s exploration of AI and traditional production. President Dustin Callif commented, “Both of these directors are at the forefront of AI, exploring the intersection of storytelling and technology. We’re passionate about the space, and adding talented creatives like Nem and KingWillonius is another way Tool is cementing its place as the go-to for brands that want to explore how AI can help them tell stories in new and different ways.”

Nem Perez: Technologist and Storyteller

Nem Perez brings a deep understanding of the intersection between technology and storytelling to Tool. His notable projects include “Our T2 Remake,” one of the first feature-length films entirely created using AI, involving a global community of 50 AI creators. Perez animated two of the AI-generated scenes in the film. He is also the founder of Storyblocker, a mobile storyboarding tool, and a winner of the ‘Cinema Synthetica’ film challenge for the AI short film “Love at First Bite.”

Nem expressed his enthusiasm: “I believe that AI is not merely a tool but a collaborator, capable of enhancing and transforming the creative process at every stage, from ideation to distribution. I’m excited for how this new technology is changing the game for independent creators, democratizing access to the tools and techniques once reserved for major studios.”

KingWillonius: Storytelling with a Comedic Twist

KingWillonius, known for his blend of storytelling and comedic background, is leading the charge in creating AI-powered, social-led content that responds to cultural moments in real-time.

His viral song BBL Drizzy, created using the AI music generator Udio in response to the Kendrick Lamar x Drake rap beef, has garnered 100 million impressions and was sampled by Metro Boomin. KingWillonius is also known for his short-form visual content using GenAI, including Lickback Renaissance, Yasuke, Kalel, Comedians Civil War, Hoops of Honor, and 16 Carriages.

“I love the idea of pushing storytelling and comedic boundaries while using new technologies to create things that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago,” said KingWillonius. “Tool has built a rep for knowing how to work with brands ready to experiment and try new things, so I’m really excited to work with them moving forward.”

Looking Ahead

Tool’s commitment to integrating AI into creative processes continues to grow with these new additions.
