SAG-AFTRA and the Joint Policy Committee (JPC) have agreed to extend negotiations on the 2022 Commercials Contracts, pushing the expiration date from March 31 to April 4 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The extension ensures that union performers can continue working under the current agreements as both sides work toward a new deal.
Talks will continue under a mutually agreed-upon media blackout, and neither party will comment publicly during the extension period. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland is representing SAG-AFTRA.
The original agreements were set to expire at the end of March, and the new extension offers additional time to resolve outstanding issues in what’s expected to be a closely watched negotiation. SAG-AFTRA last negotiated the Commercials Contracts in 2022, prior to its high-profile strike over TV and film contracts in 2023.
SAG-AFTRA represents approximately 160,000 media professionals, including actors, voiceover artists, and recording artists. The JPC negotiates on behalf of advertisers and advertising agencies. The outcome of these talks will directly impact how commercials are made and the working conditions for talent across the advertising industry.
Reel 360 News will continue to monitor developments and provide updates once the media blackout is lifted.
