Sabrina Carpenter, Josh O’Connor become Jonathan Anderson in surreal Dior x A24 short

A24 Dior

A24 and Dior have launched a new creative partnership with a surreal short film that turns Northern Irish fashion designer Jonathan Anderson into less of a person and more of a shared identity.

Written and directed by Aidan Zamiri and produced by Object & Animal, the film stars Sabrina Carpenter, Josh O’Connor, Camille Cottin, Drew Starkey and Sophie Wilde – all playing Jonathan Anderson.

Anderson himself also appears, naturally, as Jonathan Anderson.

The identity-bending film plays with Anderson’s now-recognizable uniform of checked shirt, jeans and Salomon sneakers, with each performer arriving as their own variation on the designer. Watch below:

The project launches a two-year partnership between A24 and Dior centered on New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre, the historic Off Broadway venue A24 recently renovated and reopened. Dior will serve as the theater’s primary partner.

The inaugural film gives that relationship an appropriately odd introduction.

Rather than building a conventional fashion campaign around a single celebrity face, Zamiri turns Anderson’s visual identity into the joke, and lets a cast of high-profile actors and musicians interpret the same persona in slightly different ways.

Carpenter and O’Connor lead a lineup that also includes Cottin, Starkey and Wilde, while Anderson’s own appearance completes the loop.

For A24 and Dior, the collaboration also extends beyond a single piece of branded entertainment. With the Cherry Lane Theatre at its center, the partnership creates a longer-term cultural platform that connects film, fashion, and live performance.

And for its first act, everyone gets to be Jonathan Anderson.
