Rumor Mill: Superman is flying back to theaters

Cavill
(Superman is back)

The Geek has always liked British thespian Henry Cavill as Superman. In fact, he has said numerous times that the highly underrated Man of Steel (2013) is one of the best superhero films of the last decade. Unfortunately, Cavill was not given much to say in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice or do in Justice League. So, we would love to see him get a real shot at the hero again.

Take this with a shaker of salt, but superhero site Heroic Hollywood is now reporting that Warner Bros. is reconsidering moving forward with Supe’s cousin Supergirl, which has been in development for a year, and prioritizing the Man of Steel again.

Supergirl, which was reportedly featuring Brainiac as the lead antagonist (it was even rumored to be set in the 1970s), has now possibly been shelved. There were reports that Michael B. Jordan (Creed, Black Panther) pitched the studio on his take on Superman. But we would like to see Cavill get a real bonafide shot at a sequel.

Right now the “Superverse” is an extended part of the Arrowverse on The CW. Supergirl was renewed for a sixth season and Superman and Lois is expected to join as well.

As much as we love seeing Clark and Lois, Superman belongs on the big screen, not a 70-inch flatscreen. Take a look below and try and convince the Geek that Henry Cavill is not our modern day Superman:
