“We’re thrilled to welcome Kristin and Jake to Republic,” says Carrie Callaway, Partner and Managing Director at Republic. “They may come from different backgrounds, but they share a passion and dedication that aligns perfectly with our brand. Kristin’s skill in heartfelt, docu-style storytelling and Jake’s mastery of high-brow comedy deepen our editorial range.”

Kristin Yawata

Kristin, inspired by her photographer father’s work on Kung-Fu magazine covers in the ’70s, began her career at Jump Editorial, eventually co-founding Little Farm Productions. Her work includes campaigns for brands like Nike and Lincoln and a longstanding spot for The Ad Council. “It’s amazing the emotion you can evoke with just a few frames and a well-crafted story,” Kristin shares.

Jake Swartz

Jake Swartz, raised in Chicago, followed his art director father’s footsteps into the creative world, studying film and interning at prestigious studios like Cutters.

After moving to Austin and joining The Den, he honed his comedic chops on campaigns for brands like McDonald’s and Nissan, even cutting on set for Will Ferrell’s recent PayPal spot. “Hearing someone laugh at a well-timed comedic moment is the best reward for an editor,” says Jake.

Kristin and Jake join a talented team that includes Shaddai Berron, Chris Gipson, and others. Both are eager to collaborate and bring fresh ideas to Republic’s dynamic editorial landscape.
