Netflix is officially turning KPop Demon Hunters into a live touring spectacle. During the company’s 2026 Upfront presentation in New York, Netflix announced plans for its first-ever global concert tour tied to the breakout animated phenomenon, with the live experience set to launch in 2027 in partnership with AEG Presents.
According to Netflix executives, the tour will transform elements of the film into a large-scale stage production designed to immerse fans inside the world of HUNTR/X, the fictional K-pop girl group at the center of the movie.
And honestly, this feels less like a surprising announcement and more like the inevitable next step. “KPop Demon Hunters” has quietly become one of the most unexpectedly massive entertainment events of the year, exploding far beyond typical animation fandom into full-blown global pop culture obsession.
“Obviously, nothing has captured the world’s attention quite like KPop Demon Hunters,” said Amy Reinhard, Netflix’s President of Advertising, during the presentation. “There were sing-a-longs, Halloween costumes, shoutouts at the U.S. Open and Buckingham Palace,” Reinhard continued. “There was even a 25 percent spike in flights booked to Korea.”
Netflix also claimed that the film remains the platform’s most popular movie globally, a staggering achievement for an original animated musical centered on demon-slaying K-pop idols.
The film, directed by Maggie Kang, follows fictional girl group HUNTR/X, whose members secretly battle supernatural threats while navigating the pressures of global stardom and rivalry with the demon boy band the Saja Boys.
The movie’s blend of high-energy action, emotional storytelling, and aggressively catchy music quickly fueled viral fandom online, particularly around the Oscar-winning song Golden, which became a full-scale social media anthem.
TikTok basically never stood a chance. The voice cast includes Arden Cho as Rumi, May Hong as Mira, and Ji-young Yoo as Zoey, with musical performances provided by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.
While Netflix did not announce specific tour dates or cities yet, fans can now register for updates through the official waitlist ahead of the 2027 rollout. The larger significance here is pretty fascinating.
Streaming platforms have spent years trying to transform original IP into sustainable franchises extending beyond the screen. KPop Demon Hunters may be one of the clearest examples yet of Netflix successfully creating something that functions simultaneously as a movie, a music brand, a fandom ecosystem, and now a live touring event.
Basically, Netflix accidentally built a fictional K-pop group so popular it now needs a real-world concert tour. Which feels extremely 2026.
