Actress Megan Fox sent social media buzzing after posting a striking gothic-inspired photoshoot to Instagram featuring sheer black lingerie, a dramatic floor-length veil, smoky makeup and blood-red nails adorned with miniature crosses.
While the images were styled around the theme of “vices and virtues,” many fans immediately drew comparisons to Jennifer Check, Fox’s iconic demonic cheerleader from the 2009 cult horror favorite.
Wearing a see-through black mesh lingerie set, complete with a bandeau bra and lace thong, Fox wrapped herself in a billowing sheer black shawl while a glowing halo hovered above her head. Paired with gothic makeup and razor-sharp crimson nails, the look blurred the line between fallen angel and horror icon—a visual that instantly recalled Jennifer Check from Jennifer’s Body. The photos quickly ignited Instagram, racking up more than 2.5 million likes in less than a day while sparking thousands of comments. Many fans immediately connected the gothic imagery to Fox’s cult horror role as Jennifer Check in Jennifer’s Body, with comments like “Welcome back Jennifer” and “Is this a Jennifer’s Body 2 tease?”

Others interpreted the religious symbolism, complete with a halo, black veil, and biblical caption, as references to Lilith, female empowerment, and rebirth, while admirers dubbed her “Saint Megan” and “the goddess that you are.” Not everyone was sold, however. Some followers criticized the provocative imagery or lamented Fox’s changing appearance, proving the photos were as polarizing as they were attention-grabbing.
The timing couldn’t be better. Interest in Jennifer’s Body is surging following recent updates that a sequel is officially in development. Director Karyn Kusama previously revealed that writer Diablo Cody was developing ideas for a follow-up, while Cody recently confirmed she’s actively writing the screenplay.
Even more exciting for longtime fans, Cody has indicated that both Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried are expected to return as Jennifer and Needy, respectively, although Fox has yet to publicly comment on her involvement.
Seyfried recently fueled speculation during a TikTok appearance. “I think we’re making another one,” she said with a smile. “I didn’t confirm it! I said, ‘I think.’ We’re working on it.”
Released in 2009, Jennifer’s Body initially struggled at the box office before finding new life as one of horror’s most celebrated cult classics. Written by Cody and directed by Kusama, the film has been widely reappraised over the past decade for its sharp satire, feminist themes and Fox’s unforgettable performance as the possessed high school student with an appetite for teenage boys.
Whether intentional or not, Fox’s latest gothic aesthetic feels like a fitting reminder that Jennifer Check never really left the cultural conversation.
