This was an unexpected treat for the holidays. Like getting a Christmas Bonus. Long expected to be attached to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Marvel Studios without warning has released the first teaser trailer for Black Widow!
F*ck yeah!
I was a bit skeptical when I heard the first film in Marvel’s Phase 4 following Spider-man: Far From Home, would be an entire dedicated to Natasha Romanoff. I wasn’t convinced Scarlett Johansson could carry an entire action film herself.
If this trailer is any hint, consider me wrong. Very wrong.
The 2:10-minute trailer is an action-packed thrill ride. We get a look at Romanoff’s past (looks like scenes from Avengers: Age of Ultron) as well as life on the run after the events of Captain America: Civil War.
There are detailed looks at villain Taskmaster, other Black Widows (Rachel Weisz) and Red Guardian (Stranger Things’ David Harbour) (who, surprisingly, looks set to be comic relief).
There are also clips of Romanoff’s new white suit, which is pretty kick-ass, reminiscent of the Quantum Realm suits from Avengers: Endgame. Watch below:

There is also a simple, yet elegant new poster:
Marvel Studios is clearly pulling out all the stops to ensure that their second female-led blockbuster is a hit and aside from Taskmaster’s suit (meh), the movie does look like a lot of fun.
Starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz, Black Widow hits theaters May 1, 2020.
