Marvel Studios closed out Disney’s CinemaCon presentation with a major look at one of the most anticipated films of 2026, Avengers: Doomsday, positioning the film as the next massive chapter in the MCU.
Set to hit theaters on December 18, the film brings together heroes from multiple universes in what’s being framed as a full-scale collision event.
The biggest moment came with the reveal of Victor Von Doom as the central threat, signaling a darker, more formidable villain at the story’s core. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo confirmed the character’s importance, while Robert Downey Jr. made a surprise appearance tied to the role, sending the room into a frenzy.
He was joined onstage by Chris Evans, further reinforcing the film’s connection to the franchise’s legacy era while expanding into something new.

The cast is massive, pulling from across Marvel’s multiverse with names like Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, and Tom Hiddleston, among many others.
Marvel also used the moment to promote its new Infinity Vision initiative, designed to highlight premium theatrical experiences and reinforce that this is a film meant to be seen on the biggest possible screens.
The synopsis reads: “In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
It doesn’t give much away, but it strongly suggests a multiverse collision centered on three key worlds: Earth-616, Earth-828, and Earth-10005, bringing together the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. At the center of that convergence is Doctor Doom, setting up a showdown that feels less like a twist and more like the inevitable next move.
The message was clear. This is not just another Marvel release. It is an event.
