Law & Order crew member shot in AM ambush

Shocking news from Dick Wolf’s Law & Order: Organized Crime set. Multiple outlets are reporting a crew member was shot and killed, early Tuesday morning, hours before filming was set to begin on the show’s third season.

According to Variety, which broke the story, an unnamed 31-year-old crew member was sitting in his car at approximately 5:15 am ET in a Brooklyn neighborhood, when an assailant approached the car, opened the door, and fired upon the crew member.

The victim was transported to Woodhull Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result,” NBC and studio Universal Television said in a joint statement. “We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”

Filming was to take place at 229 N. Henry Street at 5:15 a.m. in the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn. The victim was there early as part of set security and parking detail. EW.com says he was He was employed by a private company.

The male perpetrator is described as around 5’4” with a thin build and a medium complexion. He was reportedly wearing a black hoodie and black pants. It isn’t clear if the killer knew the victim or what the possible motive could be.

Law & Order: Organized Crime stars franchise veteran Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, who first appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 1999.

The series debuted in April 2021 with Meloni in the lead role, and has thus far aired two seasons. It was recently renewed for season 3 and is set to premiere with new episodes later this year.

No arrests have been made as of yet.
