“Show us how obtuse you are without saying you’re obtuse,” was one of the barrage of tweets personality, entrepreneur, and reality show star, Kim Kardashian faced from WGA protesters after tweeting from the set of American Horror Story last Friday.
The ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which entered its 55th day, aims to negotiate a new contract regarding writers’ pay with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
Members have been striking for fairer compensation among other issues in a climate dictated by technological progression. The use of AI in screenwriting is also among issues plaguing the WGA members who are demanding that AI should be regulated.
Kardashian’s tweet, asking her followers what they were up to while on set, received over 2,700 replies. “Hi guys! I’m on the set of AHS and we have some time between shows. What are you all up to????” Kardashian wrote, while seemingly expecting positive responses from her hands.
Hi guys!

I’m on set of AHS and we have some time between shots. What are you all up to????
Actor Joel Kim Booster, known for his role in Loot, replied with a quip about picketing, which garnered over 6,700 likes. Another SAG-AFTRA member mentioned being at home due to the strike.
Picketing, Kim.

Some users pointed out the ongoing strike to Kardashian, but she continued to engage with her fans and even assured one user that the upcoming season of AHS would be scary.
Striking in support of my union.

Writer and actress Dani Fernandez tweeted back, “I love horror. Kim would you like to join us on the picket lines? Both SAG and WGA is out there. Really great women like Annette Bening, Kerry Washington and Hannah Waddingham have been out with us. I’m sure you’d see the AHS writers too. You’re welcome to join us!”

Kim, if you are going to cross a picket line. You might not want to broadcast it to the world. Your tweet is beyond cringe. If you didn’t get the memo, SAG-AFTA stands in solidarity with the WGA. pic.twitter.com/PCpZQ9rFjR

REELated:
This incident is not the first time the cast and crew of American Horror Story have faced criticism during the strike. Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, previously denied claims that crew members would be punished for participating in the strike, calling the allegations “absolute nonsense.”
It’s also not the first time Kardashian has shown that she is blissfully unaware of current events. In 2020, during the height of COVID, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star threw a lavish 40th birthday party in the islands and tweeted about it.
“After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,” she wrote in the captions of her photos. The response was less than supportive.
The twelfth season of American Horror Story, which features actors Emma Roberts and Zachary Quinto, is scheduled to premiere in August 2023.
