Jason Momoa is set to bring his comedic talents to the Super Bowl in a new T-Mobile commercial where he dances to Irene Cara’s Flashdance… What a Feeling alongside Zach Braff and Donald Faison.

Momoa, known for his roles in action-packed films and series like Aquaman and Game of Thrones, gets to showcase a different side of himself in the ad, engaging in humorous antics such as getting doused with water, hitting high notes in a song, doing a flip, and meeting Jennifer Beals, who starred in the original Flashdance movie.

In an interview with Variety, Momoa, who appeared on the Super Bowl two years ago in a Rocket Mortgage ad from Highdive, expressed his excitement about revealing his comedic side to audiences, noting that while he is primarily recognized as a dramatic actor, he enjoys the opportunity to play humorous roles in commercials and other projects. Watch below:

Braff and Faison, who have been part of T-Mobile’s Super Bowl campaigns in recent years, have experienced various memorable scenarios during the big game. In past ads, they were joined by John Travolta and even staged a Scrubs reunion. The commercials entertain and prompt inquiries about T-Mobile’s consumer plans.

The collaboration with Momoa injected new energy into the project, with Faison describing the atmosphere as fun, high-energy, and silly. Planning for the shoot began last fall, with Braff and Faison brainstorming ideas with Brian Klugman, the head of creative for Panay Films, which has worked on T-Mobile’s recent Super Bowl efforts.

The ad’s seamless execution impressed T-Mobile executives, with Braff noting that they didn’t receive any notes or adjustments. Jennifer Beals adds an extra boost to the ad, with Faison highlighting her familiarity with the Flashdance theme and the enjoyment everyone had watching Momoa seek tips from her.

We’re not exactly sure what is going on with the Flashdance vibes. T-Mobile won’t be the only brand pulling the chain and dancing ’round a chair. Sister publication, Reel Chicago just published a similar article where NERDS is also doing the tribute.

Super Bowl LVIII will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, February 11, 2024. It will be broadcast on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon. Usher will perform at halftime.
