GMA stars pulled off air after alleged affair scandal

Two Good Morning America stars apparently are on the naughty list. At least they are on ABC News President Kim Goodwin’s bad behavior list. During a Monday morning internal call Goodwin announced that the duo of Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes would not host their daily 1 p.m. show, GMA 3.

Late Monday, Daily Mail revealed the journalists’ off-air relationship by posting photos of the coworkers’ off-air antics over the past month. While romances in the workplace are fairly common, Robach and Holmes allegedly became an item as they were both married to others.

Godwin reportedly addressed the team, informing them that Stephanie Ramos and Gio Benitez would host GMA3 beginning Monday because the alleged affair had become a distraction both internally and externally. “After a lot of thought, I am taking Amy and T.J. off the air as we figure this out,” Godwin told staffers.

The affair is not a violation of Disney policy, but the alleged public affair is still upsetting for the overall GMA brand.

Godwin added that while Holmes and Robach’s alleged affair was “not a violation of company policy,” the decision to take them out of their anchor chairs was necessary for the “GMA” brand as a whole.

REELated:

The alleged relationship was outed last week after the two put on a flirtatious display at bars near ABC’s Midtown studios.

It’s been speculated that the romance began in early spring. But other sources close to the anchors say it began when the two separated from their spouses, Marilee Fiebig and Andrew Shue, respectively.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, the affair has left a bad taste in Good Morning America’s anchor Robin Roberts. Page Six previously reported that Roberts confronted Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, and told them to “stop it.”

Benitez and Ramos will continue to host indefinitely.
