The sixth annual French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF) is set to dazzle audiences from May 17-18, 2024, celebrating the vibrant world of short film and short-form content from around the globe.

Festival co-founders Nicole Goesseringer Muj and Gotham Chandna announced the lineup of finalist shorts for the 2024 competition, promising an electrifying showcase of cinematic talent.

Since its inception in 2019, FRFF has emerged as a beacon for filmmakers, providing a platform to recognize and celebrate short-form content across various mediums, including film, television, web, and digital platforms.

Held during the prestigious Festival de Cannes, FRFF invites filmmakers from diverse backgrounds to participate in a two-day extravaganza filled with screenings, VIP receptions, and a closing gala awards ceremony.

The first day of the festival will feature a special out-of-competition screening of Quimera, a gripping psychological thriller by Spanish filmmaker Tomas Vergara. Starring Argentine actor Martin Rodriquez, known for his role in Netflix’s Griselda, alongside Gadea Jimenez, the screening promises an immersive cinematic experience. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with the film’s actors and director following the screening.

“2024 will mark a very exciting edition for our boutique short film festival,” comments Ms. Muj. “We’re delighted to spotlight the short film genre once again during the Festival de Cannes and recognize the talented filmmakers and industry creatives from around the globe.”

The festival will showcase the works of filmmakers hailing from more than 20 countries, representing a diverse array of genres and storytelling styles. The full list of finalist and honorable mention films across categories such as Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Sci-Fi/Horror, Animation, Experimental, Fashion, Music Video, Micro Short, Student, and Activism can be found on the festival’s official website.

In addition to the screenings, FRFF will host the official opening reception and closing awards ceremony, where accolades including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Audience Choice, Rising Star, and Industry Excellence will be presented. The event will be attended by filmmakers, industry executives, celebrities, media personalities, and influencers.

Festival screenings are free to attend and will be held live over two days from 10 am to 3 pm at the Eden Hotel & Spa. Exclusive receptions and awards events are planned after each day’s screenings at the Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery and Eden Hotel, by invitation only.

As the excitement builds for the 2024 French Riviera Film Festival, cinephiles and industry insiders alike are poised to embark on a cinematic journey celebrating creativity, innovation, and the power of storytelling on the iconic shores of Cannes.
