For official ‘Bill and Ted’ Day (6/9) we have a trailer

Excellent. What better way to celebrate the official Bill and Ted Day (yeah today 6/9 dude) than looking at the first teaser trailer for the long-awaited third installment, Bill and Ted Face the Music? That’s what Orion Pictures has gone and done. The studio has finally given us a peek at Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprising the roles of dumb metal-heads Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq, respectively.

Having not united the world by music from the last film, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, the new teaser finds our heroes, still chasing the idea of becoming world class rock stars and deciding to travel into the future to bring back the “greatest song ever written… by themselves of course.

So in order to set the world right, they join their daughters (played by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine) to go forward in time to set things right — and encounter a new batch of historical figures, some music legends and bulked-up versions of themselves in prison.

There is also a reunion with Bogus Journey fan-fave The Grim Reaper (William Sadler). Watch below:

It’s very much just a tease of what’s to come, but should prove to be an excellent adventure which we could all use. The cast also includes Kid Cudi Jillian Bell, Kirsten Schaal, Beck Bennett and Barry breakout actor Anthony Carrigan as the film’s villain.

Here’s the official synopsis from Orion:

“Bill & Ted Face the Music will see the duo long past their days as time-traveling teenagers and now weighed down by middle age and the responsibilities of family. They’ve written thousands of tunes, but they have yet to write a good one, much less the greatest song ever written. With the fabric of time and space tearing around them, a visitor from the future warns our heroes that only their song can save life as we know it. Out of luck and fresh out of inspiration, Bill and Ted set out on a time travel adventure to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe as we know it. Together with the aid of their daughters, a new crop of historical figures, and some sympathetic music legends, they find much, much more than just a song.”

Bill & Ted Face The Music is set to hit theaters August 21. (we hope).

Most excellent.
