Eugene and Dan Levy are gearing up to make Emmy history this weekend as the first father-son duo to host the prestigious 76th Emmy Awards.

Set to air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC, the ceremony will also be available for streaming the next day on Hulu.

Eugene Levy, a 14-time Emmy nominee and four-time winner, expressed excitement about hosting with his son, calling it a “major event in television” and the “penultimate honor.” “Dan started out in television on MTV for many years; I was on SCTV,” he says. “TV really has been such a major part of our lives that just being a part of the show—being tapped as a presenter—is an honor. But [hosting] is kind of the penultimate honor for me.”

Dan Levy, a six-time nominee and four-time winner, added that their Emmy wins have been life-changing and career-defining moments. “It’s a huge moment in people’s lives and in people’s careers. And as a TV lover, to have been nominated—and luckily win—was a career-defining, life-changing moment.” Watch below:

The Levys reflected on their personal experiences with the Emmys, offering advice for nominees. Dan recounted his 2020 wins with joy and admitted that letting yourself feel the excitement in the moment is key.

Eugene, known for his humor, emphasized the importance of honesty when delivering an acceptance speech, whether heartfelt or funny. Together, the Levys joked that as hosts, they hope to keep speeches short and sweet!

This year’s Emmy Awards promises to be a memorable event, thanks to the comedic duo’s hosting, their personal Emmy triumphs, and their shared love of television.
