She leaves approximately four months after U.S. Chief Creative Officer Britt Nolan departed for DDB North America.

Earlier this week, sister outlet, Reel Chicago reported Montgomery’s chief strategy role was filled by Aki Spicer who was promoted immediately. Spicer joined Leo Burnett in October 2018 to lead global strategy for Samsung, spanning Mobile, Visual Display and Appliances, Brand and Post-Purchase Experience, since then taking on responsibility for additional clients including Facebook Messenger.
Prior to joining the agency, Spicer served as Chief Strategy Officer at TBWA/Chiat/Day New York where he worked on marquee brands like Nissan, McDonald’s and Hilton, and helped productize that agency’s offerings through new processes and methodologies.
Montgomery, a native of Australia, and Nolan were named co-presidents of Leo Burnett’s Windy City office in January. Montgomery had the president title to herself since Nolan’s departure. Before joining the Chicago office, the Ad 2018 Age “Woman to Watch” did a stint at Leo Burnett Sydney.
The agency is searching for a new president, and Leo Burnett Group CEO Andrew Swinand will fill the role in the interim, according to the article.
