Beetlejuice, Wicked lead MUAHS noms

The Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS), presented by L’Oréal Groupe and Giovanni Eco Chic Beauty, has revealed the nominees for its prestigious 12th Annual MUAHS Guild Awards.

The MUAHS event, celebrating outstanding achievements in make-up and hair styling across film, television, theater, and more, will take place on February 15, 2025, at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

MUAHS President Julie Socash shared the nominations, which span a variety of genres, from contemporary and period make-up to special effects and live theatrical productions. Two categories feature ties, resulting in six nominees:

• Best Contemporary Make-Up in a Television Series – Limited, Miniseries or Movie
• Best Hair Styling in a Children’s Program

Feature-Length Motion Picture Nominees

Among this year’s contenders, The Deliverance (Netflix) leads with multiple nominations, including Best Contemporary Make-Up and Best Contemporary Hair Styling. Other notable MUAHS nominees include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (Warner Bros. Pictures) and Deadpool & Wolverine (Marvel Studios) for Best Period and/or Character Make-Up and Hair Styling.

Television Highlights

On the small screen, popular series like Abbott Elementary (ABC), The Penguin (HBO), and Bridgerton (Netflix) received MUAHS nods in various make-up and hair styling categories. The nominations showcase the diversity of talent in contemporary, period, and special make-up effects for television.

Special Recognition for Lifetime Achievement

MUAHS will honor two industry legends with Lifetime Achievement Awards:

• Todd McIntosh, Emmy-winning make-up artist known for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Memoirs of a Geisha.”
• Peter Tothpal, award-winning hair stylist renowned for his work on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”

Additionally, the Distinguished Artisan Honoree will be announced soon.

This year’s MUAHS nominations include 23 categories and mark another milestone in recognizing the artistry behind Hollywood’s most iconic looks.
