Anya Taylor-Joy hits the road in Furiosa trailer

Academy Award-winning filmmaker George Miller is set to return to the iconic dystopian world he created over 30 years ago with the Mad Max films in the much-anticipated Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

The film, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures, is a standalone action-adventure that explores the origins of the powerhouse character Furiosa from the Oscar-winning Mad Max: Fury Road.

The plot follows a young Furiosa who is taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and captured by a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. The story unfolds as they traverse the Wasteland and encounter the Citadel ruled by The Immortan Joe. Amid the power struggle between the two tyrants, Furiosa must endure various trials while working to find her way back home. Take a look below:

Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the title role of Furiosa, and Chris Hemsworth is also part of the cast, along with Alyla Browne and Tom Burke.

Miller penned the script alongside Nico Lathouris, who co-wrote Mad Max: Fury Road. The creative team includes familiar collaborators from Mad Max: Fury Road, such as production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt, all of whom won Oscars for their work on the previous film.

Other members of the behind-the-scenes team include first assistant director PJ Voeten, second unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris, director of photography Simon Duggan, composer Tom Holkenborg, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, editor Eliot Knapman, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, and colorist Eric Whipp.

The film is slated for a nationwide theatrical release on May 24, 2024, in the United States and on May 22, 2024, internationally.
