Air Canada has once again embraced the holiday spirit with the release of its latest festive spot, spreading joy and warmth among Canadians. The 1:30 minute video, titled “Once upon a Tree,” weaves a heartwarming tale of reuniting with loved ones during the most magical time of the year.

The enchanting story unfolds with two endearing nutcracker bears, separated after a year of being tucked away together. Distraught at the prospect of spending the holidays apart, the adorable wooden bears embark on a series of heroic efforts to reconnect. Their journey involves zip-lining along a string of lights and even collapsing a gingerbread house, all in pursuit of togetherness.

With a touch of holiday magic from Air Canada, the tiny bears share a dramatic and touching reunion, embracing in a moment that captures the essence of the festive season. Watch below:

“We continue our tradition of combining whimsical animation with modern renditions of beloved Canadian songs to tell a story about being together over the holidays,” shares Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand at Air Canada. “That is the essence we wanted to capture in this holiday spot.”

The visually captivating spot seamlessly blends the latest CGI technology with hand-painted brushstrokes, creating a storybook-style narrative. Montréal singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin, returning for the second year, lends her voice to the campaign. In the French version, she beautifully recreates Jean-Pierre Ferland’s enchanting 90s hit Une Chance Qu’on S’a, while in the English version, she puts a new spin on Bryan Adams’ iconic 1991 classic Everything I Do (I Do It For You). This musical fusion adds a stirring symphony to the holiday narrative.

Managed by FCB for strategy and creative, with animation by Hornet, and audio by Cult Nation & OSO, the spot is available in various durations and will be featured on paid and organic social media, Air Canada’s in-flight entertainment system, television, and cinemas across Canada.

In addition to the heartwarming campaign, Air Canada has expanded its in-flight entertainment offerings to include a selection of holiday films, ensuring passengers can enjoy the festive season even while traveling. For those flying between December 24 and 25, Air Canada will also be offering a special holiday dinner, providing a taste of home for travelers during this joyous season.
