When originally connecting with 1stAveMachine, Gemmell had nothing but praise for his new professional home. “1stAve is a honeypot of talent and creative content,” he explains. “The projects they’ve been producing, as well as the roster of talent they’ve been curating over the years was really the initial beacon that drew me to them. After only one meeting with (Partners) Sam (Penfield) and Serge (Patzak), the synergy was there.”

Outside of advertising, Gemmell’s previous stint as the EP and Head of Production at Digital Domain 3.0 earned him numerous accolades, such as an Academy Award nomination for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Gemmell’s Emmy nomination came from a partnership with ESPN, detailing the story of teen Jacob Jarvis, an Ohio State football fan with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His work on Tupac’s 2012 Coachella performance turned heads, snagging him both a Titanium Cannes Lions and a Grand Clio.

Now at 1stAveMachine, Gemmell will steward the decorated directorial roster and be responsible for ensuring the quality of content with the growing demand of emerging technology. “1stAve has always pushed to be at the forefront of utilizing new tech to create content,” he says. “While they set the highest bar of quality in traditional broadcast commercials and content, they’re also leaning into innovative and even disruptive ways to create content by partnering with global technology companies and platforms. As a leader, my job is to help foster the team’s creativity and bend and shape our content to make it malleable to new technological methodologies.”

According to 1stAveMachine Partner / EP Serge Patzak, “We are thrilled that Scott has joined our roster of EP talent. Scott’s unique experience with emerging tech in advertising and dedication to excellence in production is a perfect fit for 1stAve as it continues to grow in the area of NFTs, AI, VR and AR.”

Reel 360 News wishes Scott the best of luck in his new role.
