Avatar: Fire and Ash star Zoe Saldaña says she has become fascinated with the slang term “6 7” used by Generation Alpha and is determined to keep up.
The 47-year-old actress revealed that one of her favorite pop culture moments of 2025 has been the viral phrase that took off on TikTok and Instagram Reels in October. The term originated from the song Doot Doot (6 7) by rapper Skrilla and quickly became a meme despite having no clear definition. Pronounced “six seven,” it was later named Dictionary.com’s word of the year.
Speaking to People, Saldaña said, “This whole 6 7 thing has been an absolute anomaly. I am just so hyper-focused on this Gen Alpha lingo, and I am going to get it.”
The phrase has also been associated with NBA player LaMelo Ball, who stands 6’7″. Along with “6 7,” Saldaña says she has started using the word “aura,” which Generation Alpha uses to describe someone’s cool factor.
She joked that her attempts do not always land. “Every time I think that I am preserving my aura, that is when I am told that I lost it,” she said.
Saldaña shares 10-year-old twins, Cy and Bowie, and a 9-year-old son, Zen, with her husband, filmmaker Marco Perego Saldaña. All three are part of Generation Alpha, having been born between 2010 and 2024.
Earlier this year, the Guardians of the Galaxy performer admitted she sometimes wishes her children were less aware of her fame, explaining that they have grown up on film sets and see her work as part of everyday life.
Following her historic Academy Award win in March, Saldaña said her focus quickly shifted back to her family. She became the first performer of Dominican descent to win Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Perez. “The moment everything was over, I just wanted to go back home, take my kids to school, and be more present in their lives,” she said.
