Zack Snyder reveals peek at ‘Justice League’s’ Darkseid

(Darkseid is coming to HBO Max in 2021)

Zack Snyder has shared the official first look at the Snydercut version of Darkseid from the upcoming Justice League coming to HBO Max in 2021.

“The bells already been run, and they heard it,” says Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. This line is a carryover from the final scene of 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The brief clip, which Snyder tweeted this morning, features new footage of Diana (Gal Gadot) as she stares at what appears to be a cave painting of Darkseid while we hear Luthor’s ominous monologue. Then, we get a money shot of the ruler of Apokolips himself!

Darkseid was never going to play a major role in Justice League. Snyder planned for him to play a prominent role in Justice League Part 2, where we would see Bruce’s “Knightmare” sequence from BvS come to fruition with Lois (Amy Adams) dead and Clark (Henry Cavill) controlled by the despot.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
