Yungblud was joined onstage by a visibly emotional Sharon Osbourne after winning the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance, delivering a heartfelt tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.
The 28-year-old musician received the honor during the non-televised premiere ceremony at the 2026 Grammy Awards on Sunday for his cover of Changes, performed at Black Sabbath’s farewell concert at Villa Park last July. The performance took place just weeks before Ozzy Osbourne’s death and has since taken on deep emotional weight for fans and artists alike.
Accepting the award, Yungblud reflected on the impact Ozzy had on his life and identity. “To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out who you are, not just as a musician but as a man, is something I’m incredibly grateful for,” he said. “But to then get to know them, to honor them at their final show, and to receive this… I’m struggling to comprehend it. We fucking love you, Ozzy.”
Standing beside him, Sharon Osbourne wiped away tears as Yungblud continued, recalling their final conversation. “The last time I saw Ozzy, you asked me if there was anything you could do for me. I said the music was enough. And on behalf of all of us, that still stands. You’ll be with me every time I’m nervous and on stage at every show.”
He closed with, “God bless rock music. And God bless f*****g Ozzy Osbourne.”
The win marks Yungblud’s first Grammy Award. He previously admitted that the performance itself remains a blur. “It was the first time I’d ever sung a song to one person,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in December. “I went into this weird, transformative state. I can’t remember it.”
Despite that, he believes the moment changed how he is perceived. “I think the world started paying attention after that,” he said. “I watched it back and I don’t know what the f*** came over me.”
Notably, Yungblud’s performance was the only live recording nominated in the category this year, something he sees as a fitting recognition. “I love that it was nominated as a rock performance,” he said. “All I did was tell the person who got me into music that I love him.”
