‘Wonder Woman 84’ trailer drops and it’s wonderful

Appearing before thousands of devoted Wonder Woman fans and cosplayers at Brazil’s CCXP, actress Gal Gadot, who plays the titular character, and director Patty Jenkins introduced the first trailer to Warner Bros. upcoming Wonder Woman 1984.

And it was full of wonder.

After fielding a slew of questions from around the world, Jenkins and Gadot explained to the excited audience where Wonder Woman is on her journey now. In the first film, released in 2017, Diana’s journey was becoming Wonder Woman.

Now some 40 years later, we find Diana trying to find herself. Similar to Marvel’s Captain America, she finds herself alone with many of her friends having long died. She deeply misses the love of her life, Steve Trevor, played by Chris Pine.

In the trailer, we also get our first look at Barbara Minerva, aka WW foe Cheetah, played by SNL alum Kristin Wiig. We only get to see the nerdy side of Barbara (probably from the first act) as her final look is most likely being worked on by VFX artists.

And there’s the action. Lots of it. There is one jaw dropping scene in the desert, you have to see to believe. But that’s right, you can see it just by clicking on the link below:

Before the presentation high-res character posters were also presented similar to the one we saw of Gadot earlier this year. We see Gadot in her new gold costume. The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as villain Maxwell Lord, Chris Pine as the resurrected Steve Trevor and Wiig as Barbara Minerva.

Full details about Wonder Woman 1984’s story are still under wraps. There are rumors about the character being involved with a conflict with the Soviet Union.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wigg, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright

The film will lasso movie audiences on June 4, 2020.
