Tucker Carlson – 1. M&M’s spokescandies — 0. Mars Wrigley has announced that the beloved animated versions that have appeared for years in M&M’s creative will be paused indefinitely. They will be replaced by SNL alum Maya Rudolph.

The move comes in the wake of Fox News’s Tucker Carlson’s months-long attack on minor brand changes to the characters. It’s too woke. Yes, Carlson would rather concern himself with candy images rather than say, the insurrection which happened on January 6.

Mars Wrigley released a statement on Twitter Monday: “We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice” the earlier change in spokescandies. “But now we get it — even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing.”

So what were these changes that Carlson was so horrified he said on his show: M&M’s will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous,” and that when “you’re totally turned off, we’ve achieved equity?”

For one, the Brown M&M swapped her stilettos for lower-block heels. Carlson was turned off that she was not wearing her, “sexy boots.” Yes, Carlson referred to candy as sexy. Watch below:

In another change, the Green M&M traded in go-go boots for sneakers. Carlson says he would not want to have a drink with any one of them. They are too frumpy. He really talked about having drinks with candy.

Last fall, M&M’s introduced a new Purple character, which Carlson “shell-shamed” as obese on his show. The Purple M&M is roughly the same size and shape as her Yellow and Blue male counterparts.

Rudolph will debut as M&M’s new spokeswoman during the Super Bowl, a move Mars Wrigley says was already in progress. “We are confident Ms. Rudolph will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong,” Mars Wrigley said.
