The White House has once again inserted President Donald Trump into a major entertainment franchise — this time transforming him into Green Lantern.
On Sunday, Sept. 6, the official White House account posted an AI-generated video depicting Trump wearing a glowing green power ring, accompanied by the familiar Green Lantern Corps oath. The White House also published the video on its official website under the title, “Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power… Green Lantern’s light!”
The timing was hard to miss.
The post arrived the same evening HBO aired a new episode of Lanterns, the DC Studios series starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
The AI clip depicts Trump using the ring to generate imagery tied to administration priorities, including a border wall, factories, and U.S. military hardware. It ends with Trump displaying the ring as ships and aircraft appear behind him.
The White House post does not mention HBO, Lanterns, DC Studios, or Warner Bros. Discovery.
It does, however, borrow one of DC’s most recognizable pieces of superhero iconography: the Green Lantern oath.
For comic-book fans, the timing makes the post especially conspicuous. Lanterns is currently airing as part of the new DC Universe overseen by James Gunn and Peter Safran, and the Green Lantern mythology is suddenly more visible in mainstream culture than it has been in years.
Sunday’s video is also not the first time the White House has used familiar movie or television imagery to depict Trump.
In July 2025, the White House posted an image placing Trump in a Superman-style suit and cape, timed around the release of Gunn’s Superman. The administration later responded to criticism over its meme strategy by defending its use of pop-culture imagery.
In May 2026, the account also depicted Trump as Din Djarin from The Mandalorian alongside Grogu for Star Wars Day.
That makes Green Lantern the latest superhero identity to be folded into the White House’s social-media strategy.

What makes this one different is the proximity to an actively airing series built around the exact character mythology being referenced.
No public indication suggests the White House post is connected to HBO or DC Studios, and neither company has been identified as participating in the video.
So, no, this is not some unexpected Lanterns crossover.
It is simply another collision between politics, AI-generated imagery and pop culture — with the Green Lantern Corps now pulled into the mix.
And somewhere, Hal Jordan is probably checking the fine print on his power-ring licensing agreement.
