What movies have stopped production due to strike

Hollywood’s major studios have halted several high-profile projects due to the ongoing strike by over 160,000 screen performers represented by SAG-AFTRA, marking the first actors’ strike since 1980.

The strike has disrupted film productions based on completed scripts and also prevented actors from participating in promotional campaigns.

As a result of the strike, the following film shoots have been shut down until a deal is reached between the actors and the trade association representing leading studios and streamers:

Gladiator 2 (Paramount Pictures)

Ridley Scott’s sequel to the 2000 historical epic has been impacted by the strike. The film, set for a November 2024 release, began shooting last month and features actors Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington.

Juror #2 (Warner Bros. Pictures)

Clint Eastwood’s thriller, rumored to be his final directorial outing, stars Nicholas Hoult as a murder trial juror. Filming was scheduled in Georgia but is currently suspended. The movie does not have an official release date.

Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two (Paramount Pictures): The strike will delay shooting on the sequel to Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One. The filming was expected to resume after the promotion of the current installment, featuring Tom Cruise.

Untitled F1 drama (Apple TV+): Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), this Formula One-themed racing drama stars Brad Pitt. However, all filming is currently shut down. The movie does not have an official release date.

The strike’s impact on the industry is significant, with the suspension of these high-profile projects further slowing down Hollywood’s production pipeline.
