What a witch – Krysten Ritter to star in ‘Night Books’

Netflix is developing an adaptation of J.A. White’s horror-fantasy children’s story Night Books. And former Marvel Jessica Jones and Breaking Bad star Krysten Ritter will headline the cast consisting of Winslow Fegley (Larry), and Lidya Jewett (Good Girls, Hidden Figures)

Ritter is set to play an evil witch who imprisons a young boy named Alex (Fegley) in her New York apartment. There, Alex meets Yasmin (Jewett), who tells him that he must tell a new scary story every night in order to stay alive.

Night Books wil be directed by David Yarovesky (Brightburn, The Hive) produced by Sam Raimi (Spider-man 1 – 3, Evil Dead, Darkman) and Robert Tapert through Ghost House Pictures along with MXN Entertainment’s Mason Novick and Michelle Knudsen.

The Netflix script is being written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis (Five Feet Apart, The Curse of La Llorona).

Despite mixed reviews, a sequel to Brightburn is said to have been on the table before the movie took in a disappointing $32.8 million at the global box office.
