Well, hell yeah!
Today at Comic-Con, HBO screened the first trailer for Watchmen and it is something to behold.
And watch!
The trailer, with its eye-opening fx and reveals, confirms that this Damon Lindelof-led adaptation is indeed a sequel to the original comic book series by British creative team of writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons and colorist John Higgins.
In May 2018, Lindelof shared on Instagram his early ideas for his take, explaining that the HBO series won’t be an adaptation or a sequel, but a “remix.”
Again, the trailer confirms it is a sequel of sorts.
There’s Jean Smart who is playing FBI Agent Laurie Blake, a character fans will know as Silk Spectre II. Then, right at the end of this teaser, we see that Dr. Manhattan has returned to Earth from Mars. It also appears that Rorschach gained a cult following after his death, and Night Owl (or at least his Owlship) is still around as well. Watch the nearly 3-minute trailer below:

Here’s the logline from HBO:
Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of Alan Moore’s original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
