‘Picard’ cast announced at Comic-Con

It has been 17 years since we last saw Patrick Stewart as commander of the Enterprise, Jean-Luc Picard.

Now CBS All-Access, is bringing the star of Star Trek: The Next Generation back in Picard. And he won’t be alone.

Co-star turned director Jonathan Frakes, who played Cmdr. William Ryker, Marina Sirtis who played Counselor Deanna Troi, Brent Spiner (Independence Day), who played android Lt. Data and Star Trek: Voyager alum Jeri Ryan, who will reprise her role as former Borg warrior, Seven of Nine, is boarding the Enterprise as well.

It’s said all cast members will be featured prominently in the new series.

The cast for the series was unveiled along with a trailer at Comic-Con on Saturday, which you can watch above. The series also stars Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd. Star Trek: Discovery alum Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes. Picard represents the ideal captain not just as a philosopher but as a human being,” co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman said of his view of the character at Comic-Con on Saturday.

The new series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers. Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) will serve as co-executive producer, and Kirsten Beyer will serve as supervising producer. Michael Chabon has been named showrunner.

No premiere date has been set, but Picard is slated to debut in early 2020.
