Warner Bros. has finally dropped the highly anticipated Official Trailer #2 for Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. The new film promises to deliver a captivating continuation of the dark and gritty tale that began with the 2019 Academy Award-winning Joker.
Returning to his Oscar-winning role, Joaquin Phoenix stars as Arthur Fleck, the complex character who becomes the Joker. Opposite him, Oscar-winner Lady Gaga takes on the role of Harley Quinn, bringing a fresh dynamic to the story. The film also features the talents of Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.
Set in the DC Elseworlds franchise, Joker: Folie à Deux is a standalone story that exists outside the new DCU timeline currently being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The film explores the romantic and tumultuous relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn, presented as a gritty ’80s jukebox musical.
The trailer reveals Arthur Fleck’s life in Arkham Asylum, where he awaits trial for his crimes as the Joker. Struggling with his dual identity, he encounters true love and discovers the music within him. The visual and narrative style of the sequel maintains the dark, intense atmosphere of the original, with new layers of complexity and emotion. Watch the trailer below:
