A new independent film festival, backed by global agency UTA and powered by “Your Script Produced! ,” aims to shake up the traditional festival model by placing financing, distribution, and industry access at the center of the experience.
Created by Doval Bacall, the inaugural Independent Film Festival will take place November 14 and 15, 2026, at a soon-to-be-named location in Los Angeles.
According to Bacall, the festival was built to “restructure and elevate the independent film landscape” while creating a space specifically designed for independent writers, directors, actors, producers, and filmmakers from around the world.
Unlike many traditional festivals focused primarily on screenings and premieres, the event plans to function as both a showcase and an active marketplace for financing and dealmaking.
The festival will feature what organizers describe as a “highly structured” environment for independent creators, including mentoring tables, financing and production-focused panel discussions, global media partners, sales agents, distributors, streamers, and top-tier buyers.
A major emphasis will also be placed on helping filmmakers connect directly with independent producers and investors from Wall Street, Singapore, Zurich, and the Middle East, as well as gap-financing experts and global capital-mix specialists.
Bacall says the goal is to create an environment where independent filmmakers can not only premiere work but also secure meaningful pathways toward financing, sales, and distribution.
