Former President Donald Trump sharply criticized President Joe Biden following the president’s announcement that he will not seek re-election in 2024. In a statement released shortly after Biden’s announcement, Trump called him “the worst president in the history of our country.”

“Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He only became President through lies, Fake News, and hiding in his basement. Everyone around him, including his doctor and the media, knew he wasn’t capable of being President.”

Trump continued to blame Biden for various national issues, including problems at the border. “Look what he’s done to our country, with millions of people crossing our borders unchecked and unvetted, many from prisons and mental institutions, and record numbers of terrorists.”

He assured that the harm caused by Biden’s presidency would be quickly fixed under new leadership. “We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Biden’s Announcement Shocks Political World

Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 race has surprised many, including his own staff, who were reportedly caught off guard. This decision follows a challenging period for Biden, highlighted by a poor debate performance in June where he struggled to provide coherent answers and froze at critical moments.

Trump, who had long predicted Biden would not complete his re-election campaign, reiterated his stance in a phone call with CNN. “He is the worst president in the history of our country. He goes down as the single worst president by far in the history of our country,” Trump said.

Potential Match-Up with Kamala Harris

Trump suggested that facing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee would be easier than running against Biden. “He has no clue, he doesn’t, if you look at him, he doesn’t know where he is,” Trump said of Biden in May during an interview with “Cats & Cosby Show” hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby.

Earlier in the year, Trump had expressed doubts about Biden’s ability to continue his campaign. “I have said no for a year,” Trump remarked when asked by Dr. Phil about Biden’s re-election prospects.

However, following Biden’s faltering performance in the June 27 debate in Atlanta, Trump appeared more confident that Biden would remain in the race. “Yes, I think he will be the nominee,” Trump told Fox News the day after the debate.

With Biden’s withdrawal, the Democratic Party now faces a turbulent primary season, with potential candidates like Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Gavin Newsom, and JB Pritzker likely to vie for the nomination. The political landscape is set for a dramatic and high-stakes election season as both parties prepare for the 2024 presidential race.
