The campaign’s centerpiece is an engaging social video titled “Pancakes,” crafted by the independent brand consultancy  Red & Co. This whimsical animated video showcases a central character, an executive responsible for launching an AI-powered ‘Yum Bot’ designed to generate breakfast recipes.

Initially, the AI’s capabilities are demonstrated in a lighthearted manner. However, the situation quickly spirals out of control as the Yum Bot suggests a pancake recipe with bleach, leading to disastrous and dangerous consequences.

Ultimately, the narrator, now wiser but sadder, reflects on the ordeal and explains how the catastrophe and its subsequent fallout could have been prevented with AI governance guardrails. The video directs viewers to the campaign website, transcend.io/ai, where they can join the Pathfinder waitlist and gain deeper insights into Transcend’s approach to AI governance. Watch below:

Mira Kaddoura, the founder and ECD of Red & Co., noted that the video takes a more surprising and lighthearted approach in a saturated market that often presents AI as the future in a serious tone. “In an already saturated market that keeps telling us the same old ‘dream the future with AI’ stories in a serious tone, this video has a more surprising and lighthearted approach while still introducing us to the real risks of enterprise AI. ‘Pancakes’ was inspired by real events that we uncovered in our research and it got us thinking…What is the funniest and memorable cost of not regulating AI?”

Beyond the video itself, which incorporates animation, a custom-made soundtrack, and a narrator, the campaign aims to stimulate a widespread conversation on the importance of AI governance. It encourages individuals, businesses, and governments to engage in discussions, share ideas, and collaborate in the development of effective and ethical AI governance frameworks.

Kate Parker, Chief Operating Officer of Transcend, emphasized the risks that businesses face when using AI without code-level governance. “When businesses use AI without code-level governance, they gamble with uncertainty – putting their data, IP, trade secrets, private information, reputation, and credibility on the line. For companies torn between behaving recklessly and moving too slowly to stay competitive, we believe Pathfinder is the key to using AI tools safely and responsibly.”
