Timber & Coca-Cola add AR to formula

With the new wave of Augmented Reality transforming industries in the past couple of years, many forward looking brands, agencies and marketing teams, understand that consumers must be reached in even more compelling ways than with methods that are quickly becoming ho-hum.

That’s one of the myriad of reasons many are beginning to utilize AR to engage consumers in new, innovative, and increasingly immersive ways

Now Coca-Cola has now teamed up with Santa Monica-based Timber to create a compelling and immersive AR plunge through their app.

Timber’s philosophy is to put design first and strive to look at each project as a unique opportunity to make something memorable. And it shows in the visuals for Coke.

With months of meticulous development, the VFX house worked with Ogilvy, Mexico to create 3D elements needed for the interactive AR experience where users are able to point their phone’s camera at a can of Coke and witness one of 12 delightful stories come to life.

The stories each revolve around a minor conflict, where animated characters engage in a light-hearted exchange leading to an outcome that was more favorable by sharing a Coke. Watch the case study below:

From the environments to the characters and overall animation, Timber took the lead in creating a captivating world that elevated the consumer experience, with opportunities to interact with products while entertaining users young and old.
