Taylor Swift is heading to infinity and beyond. Fresh off the record-breaking success of The Life of a Showgirl, the 14-time Grammy winner has announced a new original song, I Knew It, I Knew You, written specifically for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5.

The song, co-written and produced by Swift and longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, will be released June 5 ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on June 19. The track will also appear on the official Toy Story 5 soundtrack.

According to Disney and Pixar, the song was inspired by Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl’s continuing journey, a story that began with her memorable introduction in Toy Story 2. The new ballad also marks a return to Swift’s country roots, blending the storytelling style that launched her career with the emotional themes that have defined the beloved Pixar franchise. Take a listen below:

“It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song,” said director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton. “Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable.”

Stanton added that the song felt instantly connected to the Toy Story universe. “The song is so deeply connected to Toy Story. So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”

The announcement follows a week of speculation fueled by mysterious “TS” billboards that appeared in major cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto, Mexico City, and London. While many Swifties initially assumed the initials referenced the singer, Disney later revealed the campaign was also a nod to Toy Story.

Fans were further teased by a Toy Story 5-themed countdown that appeared on Swift’s official website ahead of the announcement.

Alongside the digital release, Swift’s online store will offer three exclusive CD editions featuring the film version of the song, an acoustic rendition, and a piano version, each with unique vocal performances and production.

The collaboration represents one of the biggest music-and-movie partnerships of the summer, pairing one of the world’s biggest recording artists with one of Pixar’s most iconic franchises.

Toy Story 5 arrives exclusively in theaters on June 19.
