The DCU rumor mill is spinning again, and this time it’s circling Man of Tomorrow, James Gunn’s follow-up to Superman. While fans wait for Lanterns and Supergirl to hit screens, a new report claims that a top-tier DC heroine (cough, cough, Wonder Woman?) is set to make her DCU debut alongside David Corenswet’s Man of Steel and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor.
And based on the early casting details, it’s hard not to connect the dots.
According to Nexus Point News, the production is currently searching for an actress in her late 20s with a “warrior’s edge,” a strong athletic build, and—most tellingly—a specific height requirement. The report notes that the character is described as physically imposing, with a seasoned fighter’s presence.
Put those clues together and, naturally, speculation jumps straight to Wonder Woman. That said, rumors are rumors—and this wouldn’t be the first time DC fans got ahead of themselves. While Nexus Point has nailed multiple scoops before, nothing is confirmed. And technically, this description could apply to other DC heroines, from Big Barda to Black Canary. And given Gunn’s penchant for highlighting little-known characters, it could easily be these two or even Huntress or even Teen Titans’ Starfire.
Still, Warner Bros. Discovery has repeatedly referred to Wonder Woman as one of the DCU’s “core pillars,” and sources have already suggested she’s a renewed priority in the post-Superman landscape. With a solo film reportedly in development, it wouldn’t be shocking if Gunn chose to seed Diana’s arrival a bit earlier.
Man of Tomorrow, which Gunn insists is not Superman 2, despite Superman having a major role, will see Lex and Clark forced into an uneasy alliance to face Brainiac. Adding a major heroine into the mix would certainly raise the stakes.
For now, take the chatter with a grain of kryptonite. But if the casting call is legit, the DCU may be gearing up to welcome its Amazonian icon much sooner than expected.
Man of Tomorrow is set to hit theaters July 9, 2027.
