Din Djarin and Grogu are heading to theaters. Lucasfilm dropped the first teaser for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, promising the duo’s most daring mission yet when the all-new adventure opens exclusively in cinemas on May 22, 2026.
Set after the Empire’s collapse, scattered Imperial warlords threaten the fragile gains of the fledgling New Republic—so the galaxy once again turns to the legendary Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and his pint-sized apprentice.
The feature marks a milestone for the breakout Mandalorian saga, which launched in 2019 and helped define Disney+ with its Sergio Leone-meets-space opera tone, pioneering StageCraft “Volume” tech, and a cultural phenomenon named Grogu (aka “Baby Yoda”).
Across three seasons (plus crossovers with The Book of Boba Fett and the larger Mando-verse), the series racked up Emmys, expanded the post-Return of the Jedi timeline, and re-anchored Star Wars around found family, creed, and code. Watch the trailer below:
Directed by Disney Legend Jon Favreau, the film stars Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, and is produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce, with a score by Ludwig Göransson. The teaser hints at bigger canvases—strategic New Republic stakes, shadowy remnants of Imperial power, and the evolution of a partnership that’s carried a franchise from streaming sensation to theatrical event.
If the teaser is any indication, expect a fusion of classic Star Wars mythmaking—dogfights, dusty outposts, beskar-on-beskar showdowns—with the intimate, word-sparse storytelling that made Mando and Grogu the heart of a new era. The clan of two is ready for the big screen.
