Spud’s latest advertising campaign is redefining the connection consumers have with their food through an enchanting narrative of magical realism.
This Canadian online delivery service, known for its commitment to sustainable eating, has launched a visually stunning campaign that encourages customers to “get to know their food again.” This initiative showcases the journey of local and organic produce directly to consumers’ doorsteps, even amidst the hustle of daily life.
Directed by Grayson Whitehurst and created in collaboration with the agency Rethink, the campaign features a series of commercials where skilled artisans—a farmer and a beekeeper—magically appear in the homes of customers. These characters engage in storytelling, sharing the origins and efforts behind Spud’s fresh offerings, thus bridging the gap between farm and table with a touch of whimsy. Watch below:

Grayson Whitehurst expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “Bringing these spots to life with the team at Rethink was nothing short of fantastic. There’s a real warmth emanating from them that isn’t just a product of clever editing or lighting—it’s a reflection of the atmosphere on set. While more wholesome than previous campaigns I’ve helmed, this departure from my status quo was welcomed with open arms, and I’d happily do it again.”
The campaign, brought to fruition by the Canadian production company Dear Friend and represented in the United States by Voyager, captures a warm and inviting atmosphere that transcends traditional advertising methods. It has begun airing on television across British Columbia and Alberta and is also available online.
This campaign marks a significant shift towards engaging storytelling in advertising, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and the personal connection consumers can have with their food sources. Spud’s initiative is set to reshape how people think about and interact with the food they eat, making every meal a story worth telling.
